ABOUT THE ARTIST

Takefumi Hori was born in 1978 in Tokyo, Japan where he studied Japanese calligraphy. After moving to New York in 2004, he started working in acrylic and later gold leaf. With an eye towards merging Eastern art traditions with Western, his compositions draw from his experience with Japanese calligraphy: by placing the center of visual weight at lower left, he then creates by moving towards the upper right of each canvas.
